Dr. Candice Bainey, MD MPH
Program Director
Dr. Candice Bainey is the Program Director of the Marana Health Family Medicine Residency, where she is dedicated to training the next generation of compassionate, skilled, and confident family physicians. As an educator, Dr. Bainey is deeply committed to mentorship and resident development. Her mentorship style is grounded in support, approachability, and individualized guidance- meeting residents where they are and helping them grow both professionally and personally. She prioritizes creating a safe, inclusive learning environment where residents feel respected, encouraged to ask questions, and empowered to learn from experience.

Her leadership is guided by a strong belief that excellent physicians are developed when their well-being is prioritized alongside their clinical training. She is passionate about fostering a culture of wellness, psychological safety, and community within the residency program.
Dr. Bainey’s goal is to graduate physicians who are not only clinically excellent, but also compassionate leaders equipped to serve their communities and adapt to the evolving landscape of healthcare. She is especially committed to advancing health equity and preparing residents to deliver high-quality care in underserved settings.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling- activities that help her stay grounded and bring balance to both her personal and professional life.

My hope when I started medical school was to empower people from all ages and backgrounds to live healthy and full lives, and at Marana Health I get to live that dream every day. My practice includes women’s health, pediatrics, and addiction medicine.
When I’m not at the clinic I enjoy exploring the many Tucson restaurants with my husband Andrew, going for runs with our dogs, and listening to audiobooks.
Dr. Angela Puthenveetil

Dr. Puthenveetil is board-certified in family medicine. She earned her medical degree from the American University of Antigua and completed her family medicine residency at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana.

She further advanced her training through a fellowship in integrative medicine at the UA Family Medicine Residency Program and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Puthenveetil currently serves as core faculty in the residency program, where her passion for teaching is evident in her academic and clinical work. Her practice emphasizes integrative medicine and preventive care, with a strong commitment to ensuring each patient feels supported, heard, and well cared for.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family and practicing yoga.

Jocelyn Nowak, BSHA, has served as the Residency Administrator since 2022 and has been a valued member of Marana Health since 2019. With a strong background in healthcare administration, she plays a central role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the residency program and is known as the go-to resource for all things residency-related.

Dr. Kutoma earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (2015), followed by a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences from Bluefield College in Virginia (2019), and her medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada (2025). With six years of prior experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), she brings a compassionate, patient-first approach to care—focused on listening, understanding, and building trust.
